Eugene E. Duquette, 86, formerly of Worcester/Cape Cod, died in Port St. Lucie on Friday September 9, 2016.
Eugene was born on June 14, 1930 in Worcester, to George F. and Leona V. (Chevalier) Duquette. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne R. Duquette, two daughters, Diane L. Thomas, Anne M. Papagni and a sister, Claire L. Duquette.
He leaves 4 daughters, Elaine M. Dunne, Carole A. Cronin, Nancy J. Radcliffe and Michelle J. Nagle, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Eugene is survived by his siblings George P. Duquette, Lorraine M. Lemieux, Paul E. Duquette and many nieces and nephews.
Eugene attended and graduated from the Worcester Public Schools. Enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves and served on the U.S.S. Worcester during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW 3657, South Works Post and a charter member of the Korean War Veterans Assn, Chapter 106, Port St. Lucie. During his lifetime, Eugene was a Real Estate developer in Central MA and Cape Cod. He owned and operated Duquette Builders and Reality, Inc., until his retirement in 1993. He was elected President of the Worcester County Builders Association, Corporator of Bay State Savings Bank, Chairman of the Town Finance Committee, Superintendent of the Highway Department and served on many Boards and Committees in Yarmouth, MA.
Eugene also became a Deputy Grand Knight member of the Alhambra Council 88, Knights of Columbus, a 4th Degree member of the Bishop O'Reilly Assembly and Charter Member of the Pope John 23rd Council in Worcester.
His funeral will be held on Saturday Sept. 17, 2016 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St, Worcester. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday Sept. 16, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Food for the Poor, 44 Temple St., Worcester, Ma., 01604.
